Process for Spiritual Growth

HFN student ministry exists to connect students to Jesus, others, habits, ministry, and the world.

Connection to Christ (REACH)

You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill . . . Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven (Matthew 5:14-16 TM).

Life is our Wednesday night service for non-believing and believing students. It is a relaxing, fun time to be together and hear truths from God's Word. Our focus for Life is for non-believing students to hear and receive Christ into their life and for believing students to grow in their relationship with Christ.

Connection to Others (Connect)

So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love of one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples (John 13: 34-35).

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results (James 5:16).

Life groups are small groups of students who get together to encourage each other in their relationship with Christ. Life groups make our big group small. We desire to not be a student ministry "WITH" life groups but a student ministry "OF" life groups. We desire for every student to be connected in a life group.

Connection to Habits (Grow)

No prolonged infancies among us, please. We’ll not tolerate babes in the woods, small children who are an easy mark for impostors. God wants us to grow up, to know the whole truth and tell it in love--like Christ in everything. We take our lead from Christ, who is the source of everything we do. He keeps us in step with each other. His very breath and blood flow through us, nourishing us so that we will grow up healthy in God, robust in love (Ephesians 4:14-16 TM).

Developing spiritual habits allow our relationship with God to grow. The more we develop spiritual habits, the more we will know God and live according to His will for our life. We desire for every student to develop spiritual habits.

  Connection to Ministry (Serve)

God creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work He does, the good work He has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing

(Ephesians 2:10 TM).

He (God) handed out gifts above and below, filled heaven with his gifts, filled earth with His gifts. He handed out gifts of apostle, prophet, evangelist, and pastor-teacher to train Christians in skilled servant work, working within Christ’s body, the church, until we’re all moving rhythmically and easily with each other, efficient and graceful in response to God’s Son, fully mature adults fully developed within and without, fully alive like Christ (Ephesians 4:11-13 TM).

God calls each one of us to discover our Shape for ministry. We have all been given unique gifts and abilities to be used within the body of Christ. We take each student through a S.H.A.P.E profile to determine where they can serve Christ within the local church.

Connection to Our World (Missions)

"There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land." Deuteronomy 15:11

"If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother." Deuteronomy 15:7

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in." Matthew 25:35

God desires for all of us to make a difference in Reno County, the United States, and around the World. That is why we believe missions is so important. We desire for every student to see the world as God sees it and actively become world changers in three different ways.

1. Missions Monthly: Once a month opportunity to be involved in missions within our local community.

2. Missions Trips: Yearly mission trip within the United States

3. World Missions: Many different projects to get connected with in our student ministry. Poverty, Hunger, Aids, and any others that are brought to the hearts of our students.

This is our process and this is our FOCUS!
